Farmers and farmworkers are standing up to say that Monsanto and its Big Ag industry friends do not speak for them. On behalf of 15 organizations dedicated to the wellbeing of farmers and farmworkers, FarmSTAND filed an amicus curiae <\/em>brief in the Supreme Court case Monsanto v. Durnell. <\/em>The brief argues that a decision protecting the chemical giant from lawsuits over its failure to warn consumers about the health effects of glyphosate in Roundup would serve corporate profits, not the health and wellbeing of rural communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monsanto and Big Ag industry groups who support the maker of the glyphosate-containing herbicide Roundup have asked the court for impunity from lawsuits, pushing their myth that glyphosate is so good for farmers that the court should bend over backwards to protect it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En nuestro amicus <\/em>brief, we advocate for the truth: that Monsanto exploits farmers, and that glyphosate both endangers farmers and farmworkers and the long-term viability of American agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 25, 2026, in a decision harmful to farmers and farmworkers, the Supreme Court ruled for Monsanto. But its Durnell <\/em>opinion did not validate Monsanto and its allies\u2019 absurd claims that the future of the global food supply was at stake, nor that the outcome of this case alone would determine whether American farmers can continue their livelihoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organizations signing onto the brief are Centro de los Derechos del Migrante (CDM), Dakota Resource Council (DRC), Dakota Rural Action (DRA), Farm Action, Family Farm Defenders (FFD), Friends of Family Farmers, FrontLine Farming, HEAL Food Alliance, The Idaho Organization of Resource Councils (IORC), Illinois Stewardship Alliance (ISA), Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy (IATP), Land Stewardship Project (LSP), the National Family Farm Coalition (NFFC), National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition (NSAC), and the Organic Farmers Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
