FarmSTAND (anteriormente el Food Project en Public Justice)<\/span> present\u00f3 un amicus brief ante la Corte Suprema en apoyo a la Propuesta 12 de California, que limita la venta de productos c\u00e1rnicos en California producidos mediante confinamiento extremo.<\/strong> El Tribunal Supremo de los Estados Unidos se pronunci\u00f3 a favor del Estado de California y aprob\u00f3 la ley<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En nuestro escrito en calidad de amicus curiae en defensa de la ley de California, argumentamos que la extrema confinaci\u00f3n facilita la propagaci\u00f3n de enfermedades zoon\u00f3ticas entre los animales.<\/strong> Esto pone a los trabajadores de los mataderos, los conductores, los empleados de subastas de ganado y otros trabajadores que interact\u00faan con los cad\u00e1veres de animales en mayor riesgo de contraer tales enfermedades y de propagarlas a sus comunidades. La decisi\u00f3n del Tribunal Supremo de mantener la Propuesta 12 protege a los trabajadores del sector agropecuario de California contra las enfermedades, al tiempo que crea condiciones de bienestar m\u00e1s elevadas para los animales de granja vendidos dentro de sus fronteras.<\/strong>.
